What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Browser storage (local and session storage) works in a similar way. We use them only as described below. We do not use third-party analytics such as Google Analytics, and we do not use cookies to show you personalised adverts. We use Google Ads to measure whether our adverts work. This is switched on by default and the shop does not ask you first; see “Google Ads measurement” below.
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the shop to work, or for something you asked for. They cannot be switched off in the shop.
Not strictly necessary
The only thing in this group is Google Ads measurement. It is switched on by default for every visitor, and the shop does not ask you first. Earlier versions of the shop set a cookie called HO_V2_OA for signed-in customers; we no longer set it, and we remove it the next time you visit while signed in. For a short time the shop also asked whether you allowed Google Ads measurement and kept your answer in a cookie called v2_ads_consent. The shop no longer asks, and it no longer sets or reads that cookie; one that is still in your browser expires by itself, at most 6 months after it was set.
Google Ads measurement (on by default)
We advertise on Google. The shop reports two things to Google, so that Google can tell us which of our adverts led to them:
- A new account: the first sign-in after a new account has been activated.
- A paid order: the order confirmation page after your payment has been confirmed, with the order total and its currency.
What Google receives. For each of these, a message saying which of the two it is, for an order its total and currency, and a random-looking reference that lets Google count it only once. As with any request to a website, Google also receives your IP address and details of your browser and device, and it reads the advert reference stored in the Google Ads cookies listed below. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy, and it may be processed outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States.
What we never send. Not your name, email address, postal address or phone number, not what you bought, and no order or customer number. We do not use Google’s “enhanced conversions”. We do not use these cookies to show you personalised adverts or to follow you on other websites.
When it is on. Always, by default, from your first page: the shop does not ask you first and has no switch for it. The Google tag is loaded and the Google Ads cookies listed below are used on the pages of this shop, except the pages where you pay and the pages where you finish setting up your account. If you answered an earlier question in this shop with “Decline”, that answer is no longer applied. To stop the measurement, block or delete cookies and site data for this shop in your browser; a browser setting or extension that blocks advertising trackers stops it as well.
How to control cookies
- This shop has no cookie settings panel and no switch for Google Ads measurement. To stop it, block or delete cookies and site data for this shop in your browser; a browser setting or extension that blocks advertising trackers stops it as well.
- You can block or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings.
- If you block the strictly necessary cookies, sign-in, the cart and checkout will not work.
Other technologies
Pages load the shop’s fonts from Google Fonts. This sets no cookie, but your browser sends your IP address to Google to fetch the fonts. Links in our emails can carry a reference so that we know which email brought you to the shop. When you are signed in, we note on our own server which pages and checkout steps you use during that visit, linked to your sign-in session; this sets no extra cookie.
